Zermatlantis Matterhorn Museum in Zermatt

Due to the limited space in Zermatt, the museum was built underground. The cultural, natural museum’s main theme is the Matterhorn. It consists of a reconstructed mountain village consisting of 14 houses, a church a hotel, huts and granaries and relates the history and development of tourism in the Zermatt area. The story of the first ascent of the Matterhorn by Edward Whymper and his party is also part of the museum.
