Watts Towers

Watts Towers

Los Angeles has some of the finest arts in the world. Watts Towers represents the ability and possibility of one man’s creativity and dedication. This collection of 17 interconnected, sculptural structures of steel and covered with mortar was constructed out of broken glasses and bottles and was built by one man, Simon Rodia. Rodia turned his backyard into one of the most remarkable landmarks of the city. The tallest of the towers reaches the height of 99 1/2 feet, just half a foot shorter than the city’s height limit. Watts Towers is open for the public to visit and is accessible by the metro.
