Visit the Grand Palace and Wat Pho

One of the most spectacular landmarks in Thailand is the royal palace built for the Thai king in 1782. Located in the heart of the city on 2.35 million square feet of land is the palace grounds with its elaborate temples, pavilions, gardens, courtyards and the world-famous, 15th century Emerald Buddha. This figurine is one of the main attractions of the palace. It was made from one piece of green jade and its clothes are made from diamonds and gold. Many people believe that it brings good fortune and prosperity to their country.

Nearby is Wat Pho, where you can find the famous reclining Buddha and the largest collection of Buddha statues in Thailand. It also has a premier school that is the national headquarters for teaching and preserving traditional Thai medicine and massage.
