Underwater Sculpture Park
It’s not just humans who enjoy good art, the sea creatures have a fine appreciation for the art installation Jason de Caires Taylor created with his underwater sculpture garden. Made out of concrete and steel, it is bolted to the ocean floor and acts as an artificial reef that is an ideal home for fish and marine life. This collection of art has been growing in size and now has over 65 sculptures that are between six and 12 feet below the surface, perfect conditions for snorkeling and scuba diving. The sculptures are massive, some weighing as much as 15 tons and are being constantly worn and his first work, Grace Reef, was torn apart by a hurricane. With nature and the ever changing environment, you never know what new work of art or curious creature will be waiting for you below the waves.
