The World Famous Tulip Fields
Each year, over 7 million new tulip bulbs are hand planted in the grounds at Keukenhof Gardens. In the spring, visitors from all over the world arrive by busload to witness the gorgeous display of color blooming amid 80 acres of masterfully designed gardens. Open country roads, paved bike lanes and up to date GPS routes offer visitors the chance to bike through miles of colorful fields of flowers. While a visit to Keukenhof is certainly a highlight of any tour of Amsterdam’s famous tulips, the surrounding fields between Leiden and Haarlem also contain rows and rows of flowers grown for distribution to the world’s flower markets.
