The Silent People

The Silent People

To see what your inner art critic is really made of, visit this thought provoking public art display. Along Highway 5 outside of Suomussalmi, Finland, people who drive by this art installation can experience a wide range of emotions. Some people when seeing the silent still human like bodies, with faceless heads, become terrified and quickly drive away. Others see the thousands of evenly spaced scarecrows, all facing in the same direction and suddenly burst into laughter over the absurdity of it. The clothes on the bodies are themed and are changed twice a year. The artist has remained silent on why he created the “The Silent People” leaving people to wonder what Keijo Kelas’s work really means.
