Stroll Along Waterfront Park
This defensive seawall and its paved walking paths along the waterfront stretches along the shores of the Charleston peninsula and is a must-see landmark during your trip to Charleston. Enjoy the sea breezes and the great views of the harbor and historic buildings. As you walk along the path, you will see cannons pointing at the harbor with piles of cannon balls that have now become monuments to a violent past.
You can also learn more about the rich history and culture of Charleston by touring some of the historic homes that line the park. White Point Gardens is located on the Battery. In 1670, some of the first colonists saw this area completely covered with sun-bleached white oyster shells and named it White Point.
