Penguins at Boulders Beach

This beach is one of the best places in the world to interact with penguins in the wild. The penguin colony located on the mainland is home to over 2,000 endangered African penguins. The beach is public and the penguins roam freely. Start by viewing them from the boardwalk, if you get a little more adventurous, you can spend the day mingling and swimming with these amazing creatures. The African penguin is also known as the “Jackass penguin” because it makes a noise that sounds like a braying donkey.
