Pamukkale Water Terraces

These magnificent rock formations were formed by ancient hot springs cascading over white, travertine terraces.
During the Roman era, this was a popular health spa located below the ancient city of Hierapolis. The mineral rich waters were believed to have healing properties. Due to neglect and commercial development, limited access and strict rules are now in place to allow visitors to experience this natural wonder and still protect the delicate nature of this World Heritage site.
