Museum Island

Berlin originated on this island in the Spree River. In 1841, the King of Prussia dedicated this island to science and art. Today, it is home to an entire complex that houses five, world-renowned museums and was designed to resemble a modern-day Roman Forum. Its most famous museum is Pergamon which has collections that span six thousand years of history and culture.
