Indoor Skiing at the Mall of the Emirates
Forget about buying clothes and shoes when you go to the Mall of the Emirates and head for the ski slope. Beat the 120 degree desert heat by visiting a ski resort located completely inside the mall in a climate controlled 30 degree winter wonderland. Your entrance fee will include snow gear and coats since those items are hard to find in Dubai. There is also a ski school with professional coaches for anyone wanting to improve their skills on the slopes. Every night, the temperature at “the ski resort” is lowered to make new snow. This is the largest snow park in the world and it is the size of three football fields and can accommodate up to 1500 visitors.
The 279 foot, artificial mountain, the equivalent of a 25 story building, includes five ski runs that vary in difficulty. One of its runs is famous for being the world’s first indoor black diamond rated ski run. There are chairlifts and tow lifts to take you back to the top of the mountain after you ski down the slopes. Besides a variety of courses for skiing and snowboarding, there are also areas where you can ride toboggans, play in the snow or interact with live penguins. You can even schedule an up close and personal Penguin Encounter experience. At the end of the day, relax and enjoy a hot drink at the Avalanche Cafe.
