Hike Diamond Head Trail

Hike Diamond Head Trail

This 300,000 year old volcanic crater is part of the Diamond Head State Monument and is one of the most popular hikes and the most recognizable landmarks in Hawaii. The 0.8 mile trail to the summit was created in 1908 as part of the island’s defense system and forms a number of switchbacks as it crosses the interior slopes of the crater. The climb continues up a steep set of stairs and then through a 225-foot tunnel. Prepare to have your breath taken away as you emerge to an unbelievable view of the coastline from Koko Head to Wai’anae Bay.
