Haukadalur Geothermal Field
This valley is home to boiling mud pots, mineral pools and Geysir, a hot spring geyser that set a world record when it spouted a column of hot water and steam over 400 feet into the air.
Two of the world’s most famous geysers are in Iceland, Geysir and Strokkur. Geysir holds the record for the highest eruption at over 400 feet. Strokkur is Iceland’s most active and predictable geyser. It is a fountain geyser that gushes water from 60 to 100 feet into the air and it erupts about every six to ten minutes.
