Explore The Catacombs
When the city’s graveyards began filling up in the 1700’s, the dead were brought into these subterranean crypts to make room for development in the city. Visiting these sites are not for the faint of heart and it is not recommended to bring children or anyone with sensitivities. As you take a walk into the past, you will descend over a hundred and thirty feet into the earth below Paris’ streets. Expect to walk over one mile from beginning to end. This popular site houses the skeletal remains of some six to seven million former Parisians.
