Escadaria Selaron Mosaic Steps

This stairway is a work of art by Chilean artist Jorge Selarón. It has become known as the world’s most beautiful staircase. Selarón started laying tiles on the dilapidated steps that ran in front of his house. He laid colorful tiles from around the world on the stairway until his death in 2013. The steps run from Joaquim Silva street and Pinto Martins street. There are now 250 steps with more than 2,000 tiles from over 60 countries around the world.
