Caicos Conch Farm

Caicos Conch Farm

This farm is the only one of its kind on our planet. A female conch lays an egg mass of about 500,000 eggs. In the wild, only one egg in 500,000 matures to an adult conch. The Conch Farm shows the life cycle and the unique processes that have been locally developed for raising these edible giant, sea snails. Due to damage from recent hurricanes, it is now more of an educational site focused on improving ecological awareness for the Queen Conch, a national symbol of Turks and Caicos and its number one export. In 2012, Henry the Conch became the official, island mascot and often makes public appearances at local celebrations and the annual Conch Festival.
