Attend the Curaçao Carnival

Spectacular costumes, parades, street dancing, beauty contests and a four-day music competition are just a few of the events you will experience at the Caribbeans’ most popular festival. One of the highlights is the burning of a straw King Momo, who represents bad luck and sin. For a few minutes, people pause from their dancing and singing as the straw king is set ablaze. All the bad luck and sin that has been accumulated throughout the year, turns to smoke and billows into the sky.
