Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square

Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square

Every hour, on the hour, crowds gather beneath the Old Town Hall Tower to watch the Astronomical Clock in action. This medieval clock is one of Europe’s best-known tourist attractions.

The clock mechanism has three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky; “The Walk of the Apostles”, a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures striking the time; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months of the year.
